COLORADO NORML'S ENDORSEMENTS FOR DENVER CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT 9 - Councilwoman CANDI CDEBACAMedia Advisory: March 1st, 2023 For Press Inquiries: 720.319.7337 coloradoNORML@gmail.com Colorado NORML endorses Candi Cdebaca for Denver City Council District 9 Denver, Colorado: The Colorado NORML organization officially endorses Candi Cdebaca for Denver City Council District 9 in the April 4th, 2023 election. Colorado NORML’s mission is to move public opinion sufficiently to protect the responsible use of cannabis by adults, and to serve as an advocate for consumers to assure they have access to high quality marijuana that is safe, convenient, and affordable. Candi is a proud fifth-generation native of northeast Denver. Candi understands the importance of tight-knit communities and stepping up for neighbors in need, understanding the lack of equality within the cannabis community with her efforts extending to include responsible growth, people centered transportation, and will allow decision – making back into the hands of residents. ”Running for 2nd term, Candi has been instrumental in moving forward policy development with social equity licenses for cannabis stores, transporters, cultivations, manufacturing, and the new hospitality establishments. She learned how to use policy to protect the most vulnerable while still encouraging innovation and growth.” said executive director of Colorado NORML Ashley Weber. Through her work at Project VOYCE she’s been educating, employing, advocating, and organizing underrepresented youth in the community to create the Denver that is deserved. In partnership with community-led organizations and residents she has conceptualized and creatively transformed opportunities into action to achieve people-centered goals "I'm proud to be a NORML endorsed candidate and to have been able to pass the social equity license ordinance in my first term. There is much more work to be done to truly level the playing field for people of color in the industry but the most important piece of that legislation was the exclusivity period that matched the period of legalization without equity efforts. I will continue to serve with a lens on justice and healing." – Councilwoman Candi Cdebaca, 2023
