Cheech & Chong back in Denver to Kick off the 420 Weekend
Denver, CO: King of Quality presents a fundraiser for Colorado NORML and NORML at the Fillmore Auditorium on Thursday April 17th, 2014. Kicking off the 420 weekend with oversized talent in an intimate venue featuring comedy by the one and only CHEECH & CHONG. This internationally renowned comedy duo return to the area after their recent appearance at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, this time as the Masters of Ceremony kicking off this historic weekend.
Musical performances by SISTER SLEDGE and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and original founding members of Sly & The Family Stone, Jerry Martini, Cynthia Robinson, and Greg Errico present: THE FAMILY STONE.
Chris Chiari, the owner of King of Quality and the promoter of this event, stated that "kicking off the weekend with a group like NORML lets us remind the policy makers and opinion makers here in Colorado and across the county that many consumers of marijuana are button down professionals."
Public consumption of marijuana is illegal under Amendment 64 and per the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act smoking will not be allowed in the venue, but "this event is meant as a celebration" Chiari said. He went on to say, "Iconic names like CHEECH & CHONG and NORML are part of American Culture, we don’t have to smoke to celebrate the fact that we legally can."
NORML has an over 40-year history of advocating on behalf of responsible adult marijuana possession and consumption. This event is being held as a fundraiser for the organization and could generate one of the largest single contributions ever.
Doors open at 6 pm and kicks off immediately with AARON ARTISANAL spinning tunes and filling the hall with sound to set the night in motion. The music onstage kicks off at 6:30 with BOOT ROOSTER. They bring their rock inspired country to Denver and give a little taste of what its like to be "Country Enough," one of the hot singles off their debut album. Comedian JEFFREY PETTERSON "THE 420 COMIC" is up next followed by an emergent talent out of Ann Harbor, Michigan LAITH AL-SAADI. "Gone" the opening track of his third album, is the kind of song that will sear this blues musician into your mind making him one you’ll never forget.
